Good News

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, "We are not enemies, but friends... Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection." And, to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your president, too.
-President Elect Barack Obama

Amen.

Obama is definitely an awesome speech-maker, I have to grant him that.
I'm also proud to be in a country where we've elected a minority-race president. I'd rather our first black president have been Alan Keyes, but hey...
Now, it'll be fun to see if Obama can put his money where his mouth is. (his money, not mine)
:-)

Since when have blacks become a minority? Whites are a minority at many schools here in my school system. They're part of the majority.

I'm still surprised that NC went blue. :O

k-bear you're showing your age.

That's perfectly okay to show my age. At different ages there are differing opinions, and different experiences that we have all had. Based on my personal experience, I do not believe that we elected a minority President. I do believe that we broke racial barriers, which is absolutely awesome, because I feel as though we are coming closer to equality that I believe many people know we have not had, even though we have laws that dictate that we were supposed to have had equality. I do not, however, believe that we elected a minority, and no one has to agree with me, just like I don't have to agree with others-- that's the wonderful thing about opinions!

I didn't say you had to agree with others, not by any means. Trust me, I'm all about everyone having their own opinion.

Music Monday: Song of a Local Hero

This won't mean much to some, but while we were abroad, we got to tour the Cathedral on the Hill, the home stadium for Newcastle United....
