Music Monday: Life Support

So...Multiverse. How do I put into words how much I love this con and how lucky I am to get to go almost every year? The people I meet on panels and at my table leave me refreshed and ready to get back to writing every year, and I'm so thankful. They even forgive me (I hope) when I make goofs like getting the time for my panels wrong (first year I was half an hour late for one and this year I missed one all together) and forgetting to get my sherpa badge on time...but they gave my canine bookseller a badge because "a dog should have a badge" without even a second thought.

NO ONE TELL STANLEY OR WILLOW THAT, GOT IT?

On my way back home Sunday night I decided to switch up the playlist and belt out some showtunes because I was getting sleepy. Phantom was my first choice (duh) but it wasn't working because it's been 30+ years since my voice teacher would ask me to sing back to him something Christine Daaé sang. On to RENT! and while that is always a good time, it wasn't hitting home until the song Life Support came up.

Look - I find some of what you teach suspect

Because I'm used to relying on intellect

But I try to open up to what I don't know

Because reason says I should have died

Three years ago

Three years ago. Eugene was still on board. Chemo was happening. And I came to Multiverse for the first time with a headwrap on because I was bald and tried so hard not to look "sick." Three years ago. I nearly ran off the road at that line.

Enjoy the rest of this amazing piece from one of my favorite musicals. No day but today. For the person who asked what my dedication in the front of The Druid's Nature meant...that's it. Check your bind points, because there is no day but today.

Music Monday: Multiverse Incoming

All I'm gonna say about Multiverse this coming weekend is that you need to come check out this con if you're in the area. Great folks, great programming, and I will be in Author's Alley with my books including the new Orana's Legacy novella, The Druid's Nature.

I am up for a side quest involving cheese, though...always.

She's here! Elys is here! I've really enjoyed making the change to novellas that focus on one event and one character (or two in this case, maybe four? Anyway...). While Taeben's story (The Wizard's Bond) ended up exactly as I expected (like he was going to redeem himself with his backstory? Come on...), Elys took me in a different direction than the one I'd planned. I hope you enjoy it if you give her a chance. It's out in paperback now and eBook on October 10th (I will figure all this out one day) and I will have paperback copies at Multiverse next weekend. I'm so excited!!

Music Monday: Ikara as Rob Zombie, sorta...

The song "Dragula" by Rob Zombie is always on my playlists, especially ones for driving. I guess I'm just GenX enough that I need songs with that kind of driving beat to listen to while I'm actually...you know, driving. Anyway, I was listening to it as I left the house to go to work one day and it hit me...I could see the cinematic in my head of Ikara rising from his prison in the Underworld and flying across the length of Orana as the foliage and vegetation beneath him withered and died. Then, at the very end of the song, I saw him step onto the beach at Gudaveh and look back over his shoulder from the Dark Side of the World toward those who sent him to the Underworld in the first place. "Soon." DELICIOUS chills.

This is like the one where I saw the souls in the labyrinth but I'm going to shut it before I give even more spoilers. Here's Ikara's anthem...enjoy.
